Supplies You’ll Need For Your DIY Christmas Banner:

Twine | Christmas Cards

• Christmas cards (as many as you’d like for your banner length)

• A hole punch (I used my three hole punch and it worked great)

• Ribbon, twine, or string (I used this bakers twine)

• Scissors (optional, if trimming cards to size)

• Decorative items like small clothespins, bows, or greenery (optional)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Gather Your Cards

Look through your collection of Christmas cards or buy a set of designs you love.

Mix and match different sizes and styles for a whimsical feel, or keep them uniform for a clean and classic look.

2. Plan Your Layout

Lay the cards out on a flat surface in the order you want them to appear. Consider alternating colors, sizes, or themes for visual interest.

3. Punch Holes

Using a hole punch, create two evenly spaced holes at the top of each card. If you’re unsure of the placement, mark the spots lightly with a pencil before punching.

4. Thread the Ribbon

Take your ribbon, twine, or string and thread it through the holes. For a polished look, thread the ribbon from the back of the card so it wraps around the front slightly.

This keeps the cards secure while displaying the festive designs. Leave a bit of slack between each card for a natural drape.

5. Add Optional Decor

Enhance your banner with small bows, greenery, or even tiny ornaments between the cards. You can use hot glue or tie decorations directly onto the ribbon.

6. Hang and Enjoy

Find the perfect spot for your new banner! Drape it across a mantle, along a staircase, or above a doorway.

Secure the ends with tape, hooks, or pushpins, and adjust the cards to your liking.

Pro Tips:

Repurpose Yearly: Save the cards and ribbon at the end of the season to reuse or redesign next year!

Use Mini Lights: Weave a strand of fairy lights through the ribbon for an extra magical touch.

Involve the Kids: Let your little ones help punch holes or thread the ribbon—it’s a great way to get the family involved in holiday decorating.

This Christmas banner is more than just décor—it’s a way to celebrate the memories and connections shared during the holidays.

Plus, it’s a sustainable way to upcycle those beautiful cards instead of tucking them away in a drawer.
