How To Make A Pickle Jar Christmas Centerpiece
I’ve been saving pickle jars and canned peach jars for the past year, because I simply couldn’t toss them. They’re such a great shape and made of such sturdy glass- I knew I’d find another use for them!
These pickle jar candles make the cutest and easiest centerpieces for the holidays- they’d also be perfect for inexpensive winter wedding decor!

Supplies Needed:
2-3 Pickle Jars, or other clear jars (mason jars, jam jars, etc)
Rubbing Alcohol (optional)
Clear Mod Podge (You can also use white, but I preferred a transparent look)
Foam Paint Brush
Flameless Candles
Epsom Salts
Ribbon/Burlap
Small Ornaments and/or Christmas Greenery
Step One: Clean The Jars
Clean and dry your jars. If using jars with labels, use rubbing alcohol to get any label residue off of the glass.
Step Two: Mod Podge
To give the clear jars a cloudy look, use your foam paint brushes to apply two to three coats of the clear Mod Podge.
Each coat needs to dry for approximately 2 hours- I cheated and set them out in the sun to speed up the process.
They dry much clearer than they look when wet. I used three coats.
Step Three: Fill With Epsom Salts
Fill each jar about halfway full with the white epsom salts.
Step Four: Add The Tea Lights
Insert the flameless tea lights into the top of the epsom salts, digging them in a little so they’re half buried.
Step Five: Tie A Bow
Using a festive ribbon or burlap, tie a bow around the top of the jar.
Don’t know how to tie a bow? Here is a great tutorial.
**Using your hot glue gun, add a dot of glue to the back of the bow to keep it from moving.
Step Six: Add an Ornament or Festive Greenery
For my pickle jar centerpieces, I took a couple sprigs of greenery off of two ornaments I’ve had for a few years. The ornaments still look cute without them and they were the perfect size for the pickle jars.
If you don’t have an ornament you can deconstruct, you can make your own from tree clippings, or find inexpensive ornaments and decor at the Dollar Tree. Walmart also has a lot of inexpensive greenery sprigs in the ornament section.
Apply a dot of hot glue to the ribbon to attach the greenery.
And just like that, you have a cute, glowy and inexpensive Christmas centerpiece!
Take off the festive decor, and you can use these any time of the year.
Sharing is caring, Pin It!
