This year I’m leaning into a vintage Christmas aesthetic. I used a pack of vintage-inspired Christmas cards, some felt stickers and twine to make this fireplace banner.

You can create this banner using any theme, simply by choosing Christmas cards that match that aesthetic.

The Dollar Tree sells lots of individual Christmas cards, as well as variety packs of cards. You can also find inexpensive cards on Amazon, like these ones.

What You’ll Need:

• Twine or ribbon

• Package of holiday cards

• Mini clothespins or a hole punch

• Scissors

How to Make It:

1. Cut your holiday cards or card stock into triangle, rectangle, or square shapes for the banner.

2. If using a hole punch, punch two holes near the top of each card and thread the twine through. Alternatively, use mini clothespins to attach the cards to the twine.

3. Hang the banner on your mantel, across a wall, or in a doorway for a festive touch!

DIY Snow Globe

Dollar Tree Snow Globe
Dollar Tree Snow Globe

A few weeks ago, I created snow globes using mason jars with my kids. But I recently found these little clear snow globes at the Dollar Tree, so I had to create a few new ones!

What You’ll Need:

• Clear snow globes

• Glycerine (available at Dollar Tree or drugstores)

• Tiny bottle brush trees

• Faux snow or glitter

• Hot glue

How to Make It:

1. Remove the lid from the snow globe. Hot glue a bottle brush tree to the inside of the lid.

2. Fill the globe with water, a splash of glycerine (to make the glitter float), and faux snow or glitter.

3. Carefully screw the lid back on and seal with hot glue if desired to prevent leaks.

4. Shake it up and enjoy your magical snow globe!

Snowy Mason Jar Village

My sister-in-law Chyra made a similar variation of a snow globe, using larger bottle brush trees (also from Dollar Tree) little houses, mason jars, and table salt for “snow.”

They make the perfect Christmas table centerpieces!

Dollar tree has a large selection of mason jars.

Mason Jar Village

What You’ll Need:

• Dollar Tree bottle brush trees and decorative little houses

• Dollar Tree jars with lids

• Hot glue gun

• Table salt or epsom salt

How to Make It:

  1. Remove the lid from the jar. Hot glue a bottle brush tree to the inside of the lid.
  2. Pour about 1/2 cup of table salt or epsom salts into the bottom of the jar.
  3. Carefully screw the lid back on and seal with hot glue if desired to prevent leaks. Turn the jar over and the salt will fall to the bottom- shake to remove it from the tree branches (unless you want a snowy tree scene!)

Festive Christmas Wreath

Dollar Tree Christmas Wreath

For this DIY Christmas craft, I used an old fall wreath I bought at Goodwill and didn’t like anymore, and just took off the leaves and repurposed the form.

Dollar Tree has metal and floral wreath forms that work great for creating your own Christmas wreath.

What You’ll Need:

• Wire or rattan wreath form (or repurpose an old wreath form)

• Faux poinsettias or holly bouquet filler

• Ornament

• Floral wire or hot glue gun

The dollar tree has loads of Christmas bouquet filler that can be combined to create your own unique wreath!

How to Make It:

  1. Start by wrapping the Christmas garland tightly around the wire wreath and frame. Secure the ends with floral wire or tuck them into the frame.
  2. Attach faux poinsettias or bouquet fillers by inserting the stems into the frame.
  3. Add a bow, bells or even ornaments to the wreath as filler, or go with a simple look with sprigs and faux greenery.
